Young Adult Library Collection

Here at the PPL we classify our teen stuff as Young Adult material. This includes fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels and magazines for ages 12-18.

The age recommendations are just a general guideline. We realize there is alot of great material in this collection and people younger and older are encouraged to dip into this collection.

Young Adult Fiction (YA FICTION)

This is a great collection of novels and short stories for teens. Characters are generally aged 12 and up, and books cover topics of interest to this age group - friendships, families, first love, school, sexuality and many other "coming of age" issues. Come and check out the drama of Tim Wynn-Jones, the heartbreak of Karen Hesse, the suspense of Joan Lowry Nixon, the hilarity of Louise Rennison, and the futuristic adventure of Philip Reeve. Mystery, science fiction and fantasy are all included in the fiction section - fans of these genres may also want to browse in the special sections of the junior and adult collections. Look for many more exciting titles in the YA paperback racks (YA PBK F).

Young Adult Graphic Novels (YA FICTION)

Graphic novels raise comic books to an art form that can be exciting and challenging, both in content and visual presentation. Not just for kids, this highly popular area offers great finds for fans of Star Wars, X-Men, Dragon Ball Z, Ranma 1/2 and many more - or for anyone fascinated by the visual arts.
